Often we’re in a mindset habit of doing, believing that by doing a lot, we’re productive and achieving. It’s easy to get stuck in auto-pilot mode, where we don’t have time to stop and wonder what gives us joy, meaning and purpose.
To become more authentic, it’s important to identify your strengths and values. The more we get clear on our innate strengths, gifts and talents and our values. We see clearly what’s important and matters to us. We then have a personal GPS to make decisions that align with what feels meaningful.
To identify your strengths, write down the top 3 things that come naturally to you and think of how you use them and how it makes you feel. With your values, consider what matters to you. Another tip, think of a time you felt most fulfilled and satisfied, and what factors contributed to your feelings of fulfillment? Then write down your top 3 values and your reasons for choosing them.
Our habits contribute to our behaviour and ultimately the outcome. If you’ve been doing the same thing over and over again, feeling stuck in auto-pilot and not really giving it a deep thought. Take a breath, pause and write down from a scale of 1 to 10, how you’re feeling about your situation. 1 being the least and 10 being the most dissatisfied.
Then once you have the data. Ask yourself, what small steps can you take each day to bring you closer to the changes you desire?. Keep a tracker to monitor your changes, as it encourages maintaining momentum, along with being present.
In order to live with more purpose perspective, we need to embrace what shows up in life. A tip to move through challenges without so much resistance, is to see challenges as a teacher. In other words, acknowledge that the challenge is teaching you a better way forward, for your highest good. Shifting into a growth mindset, supporting greater self- awareness and also builds resistance.
