Living with purpose helps us notice the present moment. We also move towards accessing deeper life satisfaction and a sense of peace.
Let’s take a look at 4 avenues for purpose and inner peace living:
Identify Things That You Care About
When thinking about things you care about, break down your list and distil it so you are left with your top 3 and lastly your most important. Here are examples:
You may have a love for gardening, improving your garden is key, buying soil and plants etc. Another example, your health and wellbeing is a priority, so you get in contact with a nutritionist, personal trainer and put an effective plan in place. This might result in a desire to empower others with your learnings etc.
Know whatever your purpose is, see it as a personal mission that feels authentic and loving to you.
Prioritise Your Values
Often we go around trying to find out what we should be doing – although, the first step for addressing purpose is to get clear on our values.
Values are key drivers and a guiding compass that steers you towards what’s authentic, meaningful and feels right for you.
If you haven’t created a values list. You may want to google, “how to create my values” and there’s a lot of information. The ones that positive psychology encourage are Values Living Questionnaire by Kelly Wilson & Groom and Portrait Values Questionnaire.
Once you’ve identified your top 5 values and your why – keep it handy and refer to your values guide, as you build your purpose.
Imagine Your Best Self
In this activity, it’s essential to ask a few questions to kick start your visualisation – examples of questions to ask such as, ‘what am I doing? who’s around? how am I feeling? What’s important to me and why? and add to it or change questions around if you wish.
An example, at the start, take long deep breaths for a few minutes, perhaps in stillness to get you grounded and calm. Then begin visualising, don’t hold back, let yourself dream your best life, your best self, living purposefully and relishing inner peace.
Noticing The Good
Whist we are on a path to live with purpose and inner peace, one thing to do is to practice gratitude.
Seeing the good, noticing the good in others, even when we get frustrated. Being non judgmental and meeting people where they’re at, and allowing them to be themselves.
One tip to develop gratitude is to journal 3 good things that happened and express your gratitude for 30 days. This practice embeds the energy of gratefulness, and can be easily incorporated into your daily routine for your optimal mental, emotional and energy wellbeing.
These daily practices are all key ingredients to move through life with deeper peace, love and purpose.
Enjoy living purposefully with inner peace.
With love, Ant xo
