Our energy level plays an impact on how we manage stress. Depending on which zone we’re in – contributes to our behaviour, in terms of how much capacity we have to give and how we deal with situations within work and life.
Let’s look at 4 keys on the importance of recharging our energy.
Busyness Zone
This zone tends to deplete our energy because we take on a lot, sometimes to avoid being still or facing our fears. One thing to know is our shadows, such as fears. See them as our alleys nudging us to become better humans, to our best self. Reminding us that everything we feel is part of the human experience for our growth.
Key tip: Prioritise the most important to the least and then categorise what needs to be actioned in a timely manner. Create a to do tracker and tick off what you’ve done and move to the next thing.
Stressed Zone
When we are in the stressed zone, we’re out of alignment, mind races and we find ourselves in overwhelm. It might not be as overwhelming as it appears. However, we get into this vicious cycle attached to the situation, no room to step back and look at it objectively.
Key tip: When this happens, take a few deep breaths and watch your thoughts, be the witness of thoughts. This way you detach from the overwhelm and break it down. Grab a note pad and write down what you believe is causing the stress and next to it, write eg: “If I had to do it another way, or tell a friend, what would I say instead.”
Anxious Zone
The anxiousness zone, is the anticipation that things will get worse. It’s when the inner critic is loud, we fear the unknown – looking into the future and worrying. Our energy here is always in survival mode, depleting and draining, and no room for clarity.
Key tip: To replenish and revive your energy. Spend time pausing and breathing – “the mindful pause”, restores and revives your energy. Five mindful deep breaths, help calm down your nervous system and centres your energy. Place your feet on the ground so you feel the earth beneath you. An excellent method to relieve anxiousness, bringing you back to a sense of ease and self-belief.
Calm Zone
The calm zone is where we want to be most of the time, even though we know that life, such as work deadlines and home, social etc – creates a gap and we easily fall out of the zone into stressed zone and the others.
Key tip: Start your morning with an intentional grounding ritual, to recharge your energy to set you up for the day ahead with calm and clarity. You may want to take some deep breaths, journal, stretch or simply just sit quietly prioritising and repeating a positive mantra to kick start your day ahead.
Enjoy replenishing your energy zone
