If we nurture a healthy mindset it traverses into all areas – cultivating a holistic wellbeing system that assists throughout life, around stress, challenges, decision making, worthiness and much more.
A quick way to quieten down the inner critic voice is to regulate your nervous system. Take 10 long deep breaths, breathing through your nose and exhale through your mouth like you’re blowing out through a straw. This calms your nervous system giving your mind space to let go of your strong inner critic voice and engage into creative productive thinking.
Visualisation is another effective technique to engage in curiosity whilst calming the inner critic. Visualise as a rehearsal – imagine responding to situations with curiosity instead of defensiveness, and feel what it would feel like while you’re practicing. Here you adopt and sustain a curious mindset.
Writing down what comes up for you is an excellent way to dive deep and unpack what comes up as you get curious. Use the classic questions like who, what, when, where, why, and how.
