3 Ways To Soften In Presence Over Perfectionism

3 Ways To Soften In Presence Over Perfectionism

Underneath perfectionism is pain, fear and insecurity, a strategy learnt for acceptance by controlling how things look and be. This only leads to more hurt and suffering.

What if we could shift our perspective and choose to embrace presence so we soften into who we trying are? Let’s take a closer look:

✨ Allow And Experience Emotions

Give yourself permission to feel what arises, even if it’s uncomfortable. Presence means experiencing the full range of emotions without suppressing or fixing them.

How to feel emotions, take a few long deep breaths and allow the emotion to rise, name it, such as ‘here is fear’ and keep breathing, then ask, what is fear here for?’ keep breathing as you go through the experience.

✨ Engage In Creative Embodied Practices

Getting involved in yoga, art, dance or music encourages experimentation in becoming present. These activities foster self-acceptance and help you experience the joy of the moment without pressure to be perfect. Moving you from mind identity to body connection, feeling and being.

✨ Limit Comparisons

Notice when you’re comparing yourself to others and gently bring your focus back to your own unique journey. Do this by taking a few long deep breaths and ask the question, what does my soul need right now?’ This brings you back to your truth, it could be that you may need to learn self-trust, develop courage, build self-esteem, whatever arises, take it in and see it as an opportunity to stretch and grow.

Know that presence is about your experience in this moment, not measuring up to someone else’s standard.

Keep softening in presence
