Intentional Self-Care, For Your Optimal Mental & Emotional Wellbeing

Self-care is fundamentally a high priority in life to maintain balance. Practicing self-care allows for more calmness, more joy and can open up creative energy to do things that feel authentic & meaningful to you.

Let’s look at 4 ways on how we can maintain a self-care regime:

⭐  Maintain a Regulate Sleep Routine

Sleep is a number one priority on the list. Research shows, when our bodies are without sleep, the body is in a stressed state.

To create a healthy sleep routine, it’s important to go to bed each evening at the same time, even on the weekends if you can. You may want to create a night time ritual, perhaps light up a candle, read a bit, ensure you don’t look at your devices 2 hours before bed. If it’s available to you, make your bed up with nice sheets, comfortable pillows and take some long deep breaths to relax the mind, body and soul.

⭐  Nourish Yourself with Healthy Wholefoods

Often, because of our busy lifestyles, work, social, family and so forth, we may at times, have a tendency to either get takeout or whip up something in the microwave for convenience. That’s fine at times, however, to maintain good health for our wellbeing, we need to nourish our bodies with wholefoods.

A tip on maintaining a healthy diet, is to practice cooking most evenings at home through the week for 5 days, perhaps, one day going out for dinner and another day getting takeout – Try this for a few weeks and see how you feel.

Look up some quick healthy recipes, and make a list of what you’d like to cook through the week. Go groceries shopping early on, purchasing all ingredients for each meal. This keeps the momentum and motivation to stay on track. Start a healthy eating tracker and write down how it makes you feel.

⭐  Laugh A Lot

We need to look at life with light heartiness and not take everything too seriously. We need to laugh at ourselves and learn to laugh with others.

To practice the skill of light hearted energy – get to know yourself more. Manage the inner critic, by being compassionate with yourself – tell yourself, ‘What would I say to a good friend in this situation?’ Then laugh at things that appear a bit challenging and remind yourself that’s it’s all part of learning, the experience to grow and it’ll pass.

Reflect back on times when you have had belly laughs with good friends, immerse into that energy and bring it with you each day. Connected with your heart always.

⭐  Practice Saying A Prayer

Prayers are a powerful tool that have the capacity to shift the mindset perspective from despair to openness and clarity about what’s ahead. The process is similar to saying a mantra – it’s how you perceive it and what feels good for you. I personally love saying prayers, and this is not from a religious standpoint. For me a prayer, is a way to connect to my truth, my soul, to god, to love, the universe and inner peace.

When I say a prayer, I feel peaceful, connected, I feel grounded, present and my mind is calm, clear, open and positive about life.

You may want to choose the word ‘prayer’ or you may want to write a ‘mantra’ that resonates with you and say it daily as your go to ritual to connect to yourself, harnessing peace and self-love.

Enjoy intentional self-care
