3 Keys To Letting Go Of Perfectionism & Moving Towards Self-Acceptance

The perfectionism habit we get hijacked by so readily, takes us away from seeing who we truly are. If we can stop for a moment, and acknowledge our habitual tendencies – we have capacity to shift “perfect syndrome” into creativity and love.

Let’s take a closer look at how we can go from perfectionism into embracing our authenticity:

✨ Get To Know Your Inner Supporter
To neutralise the perfectionism default, it’s important to acknowledge that’s it’s driven by a strong inner critic. We all have one, however, if you become aware of it and why it’s there – it loses it’s power.

The way to get to know your inner critic, instead of being in a state of having to to things perfect, stop for a moment and ask yourself, do I really need to do it so perfect? and ask, is there another way? You will find that if you quieten your mind, your ‘inner supporter’ emerges and will offer a softer more creative option.

Your inner supporter, is the authentic part of you that acknowledges your strengths, accepts you for who you are and allows you to be the best version of you. Your inner supporter is your voice of truth. A way to tap into your inner supporter is to journal and respond as though it’s a supportive friend speaking to you.

✨ Practicing Self-Compassion
The inner critic makes you question if you’re good enough. Self-compassion, does the complete opposite, it asks ‘what’s good for you? How do we take care of ourselves. Dr Kristin Neff, a respected researcher, has found this to be a proven method of cultivating more kindness, and self-love by showing loving kindness, affection and unconditional love towards the self, embeds into a feeling and belief of being equal as others. Mantra eg: “I choose love each day”

✨ Create A My Strengths Mantra
Strengths and core values are your guiding compass to keep you true to yourself. Firstly get very clear on your top 5 strengths and your top 5 values. You may want to spend some time, journaling, what you’re good and and what matters to you.

Once you’ve gone through the first step. The next step is to note your top 5 key strengths, in bullet point. Then, collate your gifts into a go to mantra. An example is “I am grateful for my strengths and values, as they guide me each day to the direction that instills purpose and love,” thank you.

Keep moving towards self-love, creatively with heart.

With love, Ant xo
